Bitter to Better

Turning Frustration into a Flowering Opportunity

Not every delivery goes perfectly — and this one really tested our patience.

We had a client who ordered flowers from London to be sent to a friend in Singapore. The intention was sweet, but there was a small typo in the address. Unfortunately, we couldn’t reach her easily as she had a London number, and while it was daytime here in Singapore, it was the middle of the night for her. Timing, timezone, and a wrong address — a perfect storm.

We went ahead with the delivery, unaware of the mistake. About 20 minutes later, we received a DM on Instagram from the unit owner. They kindly told us there was no such person living at that address — they saw the message card and figured we had delivered it to the wrong place.

The moment we saw the message, frustration kicked in. The area was far, traffic was heavy, and we now had to arrange for a flower pickup and reschedule the delivery — all without being able to reach the sender directly. At that point, all we could do was email and wait. The irritation grew.

But then, we paused.
We remembered why we started Jovial Floral in the first place — to bring joy and beauty to people through flowers, no matter what. Our motto has always been to ensure our clients are happy with both our flowers and our service.

So we shifted our perspective.
From bitter, we chose to become better.

We emailed the sender, explained the situation, and double-checked the correct address with the recipient (we hadn’t called her beforehand because the flowers were meant to be a surprise gift). Soon after, the bouquet was safely and beautifully delivered to the right person. We also followed up with the sender to assure her that, despite the hiccup, her thoughtful gift made it to her loved one.

Here’s the best part:
When we went back to collect the flowers from the wrong unit, the lady who answered the door smiled and said,
"Your flowers are so beautiful. They really made my day, even if they weren’t meant for me. I think I want to get some for myself... and for a friend too."

That moment reminded us — when we choose to respond with kindness, when we correct things with care and stay grounded in our values, good things happen. Unexpected blessings bloom.

So if you're reading this and facing your own frustrating situation, I hope this story encourages you.
Turn bitterness into better.
Set your heart right.
Choose grace over grumpiness.
Because when you do, beautiful things will always find their way to you. 🌸
